What the study found
Wang and colleagues report treating two liters in 25 minutes by hand cranking, or ten liters in 15 minutes with a pedal-powered configuration. Their model estimates a levelized cost of $8.57 per person per year. These are laboratory results and modeled costs; field performance and deployment costs still need evaluation. Read the study.
