About The Margins
Our Mission
The Margins is an independent publication on displacement. We publish reporting, photographs and personal accounts, and work with contributors and researchers on projects addressing housing and water access.
Our History
Founded by Xingtong Jerry Zou in 2024, the publication began with articles and photographs about the sand trade and land reclamation in Singapore. It took the name The Margins in 2026.
Contributors have since added photographs, videos and accounts from Hong Kong, Singapore and Los Angeles. Alongside these records, the journal covers displacement, housing searches and access to water.
